ABOUT CONCRETE CALC PILOT

Free concrete calculators for real projects

Transparent measurements and practical material estimates, without pretending to replace professional engineering or a supplier quote.

Why this site exists

Concrete Calc Pilot is an independent website operated by Ethan Zhang. It helps homeowners, DIY users and small contractors estimate concrete volume, slab materials, slab budgets, bag quantities, Sonotube forms, fence post holes and self-leveling underlayment.

We aim to show the assumptions behind each estimate, from geometry and waste percentages to product yield and purchase rounding. The goal is to help you check the math and prepare better questions for your supplier.

What these calculators do

  • Quantity: estimate cubic feet, cubic yards and other useful volume measurements.
  • Materials: estimate concrete bags or underlayment quantities from manufacturer-specific or clearly identified user-provided yields.
  • Costs: build a rough slab budget from prices and site assumptions you enter, not fabricated live local bids.
  • Limits: no result certifies structural safety, engineering adequacy, compliance with local codes or guaranteed supplier availability.

For formulas see our methodology; for published assumptions see source references.

Who builds the site and who provides technical help?

Ethan Zhang, the independent website operator, develops and maintains the calculators, publishes explanatory content and handles correction requests. Enrique García has agreed to be named as an engineering advisor who supports this project and is available for construction-estimating technical questions; we do not claim he has already reviewed the published calculator formulas. His role and publicly listed professional background are described in our engineering contributor profile. These are different roles; engineering assistance is not automatically a documented review or signed approval of every page.

Our Authors & Engineering Support directory explains the people, their responsibilities and exactly which review claims we do not make. The contributor has approved public attribution and we maintain the site's sources and formula tests ourselves. We do not publish an unapproved portrait or attribute any completed technical review to him without evidence.

How we build and maintain estimates

Ethan Zhang maintains the calculators and supporting explanations. Formula choices and purchase quantities are checked using mathematical examples, automated tests and browser interaction tests, including mobile devices. A passing test does not establish professional engineering approval. Engineering guidance from the support contributor is kept separate from code testing and any independently documented professional review.

Where an estimate uses a named product, the supporting manufacturer document is linked so you can verify the figures independently. We identify the limits of our estimates instead of presenting assumptions as guaranteed outcomes.

Our validation and correction process explains the checking steps; the worked calculation examples provide numbers you can reproduce. See also the manufacturer reference list.

Corrections and contact

Estimates depend on accurate dimensions, realistic loss assumptions and current manufacturer guidance. If you find a mistake, our designated contact is support@concretecalcpilot.com. You can contact us using the email link on our Contact page.
